Discover the Healing Power of Acupuncture for Your Pet
A little about me
Hi I’m Dr. Niamh Dolan. I am Irish, studied in Slovakia and living in South Wales! I am a veterinary surgeon, looking after the small animals of South Wales. I work for a charity most of the time and am working hard to provide veterinary acupuncture as well. I first became interested in acupuncture when I was studying, and last year finally got to start providing this service myself. The improvements I have seen and the relief from pain it can provide has filled me with such joy and, thankfully, given my patients a new lease on life! I believe in a combination of Western Medicine combined with acupuncture tailored to your pet to give them the best life and well being possible!

Why Acupuncture?
Acupuncture involves the placement of small needles in the skin that are left there briefly. Usually, 3-5 needles are placed at one time. The practioner will assess each animal individually to tailor the session to their needs. Acupuncture stimulates the nerves in the skin and muscle to promote a variety of effects. We know that it increases the body's release of natural painkillers – endorphins and serotonin – in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and the brain. This modifies the way pain signals are received.
There is very good scientific evidence showing that acupuncture can help with relief of knee, neck and back pain. It is used frequently to treat osteoarthritis, cervical pain and ear ache.
